Brice Beckham

Brice Beckham is a former child star who played the character Wesley T. Owens on the sitcom Mr. Belvedere which was originally aired on ABC from 1985-1990. Wesley was the little runt who would antagonize his family's housekeeper, Mr. Belvedere, played by veteran British actor Christopher Hewitt.

Beckham was born on Feb. 11, 1976 in Long Beach, California. He began his thespian career acting in school plays. He later went on to do voices in an assortment of radio commercials. He also starred in an episode of "Alice" prior to landing his role on Mr. Belvedere.

Wesley and Mr. Belvedere were always at odds on the hit sitcom Mr. Belvedere. Wesley would make fun of Mr. Belvedere's fat gut and advanced age, whereas Mr. Belvedere would frequently poke fun at how annoying and immature Wesley was on the show. Deep down, however, they really did love each other. When Wesley found out that the Mr. Belvedere character was leaving the show, Wesley was upset and Belvedere comforted him this tender hug:

After Mr. Belvedere was cancelled in 1990 Beckham struggled to find more acting work. He is currently a stage actor in Los Angeles with the Namaste Theater Company. He also branched out in to production in 2004, producing a musical version of Deliverance. In case you're wondering, Christopher Hewitt passed away in 2001 and was unable to participate in Beckham's production of Deliverance. One can only wonder whether Mr. Belvedere would have made Beckham "squeal like a pig" if he were still alive.

Beckham is also a boy-child who never grew up. According to IMDB, Beckham's favorite hobby is drawing cartoons, which he excels at doing. Finally, according to his own professional bio, one of Beckham's "special skills" is called "The Fat Tongue." Do I even want to know what that is? For this and the other reasons discussed above, Beckham is one washed-up celebrity!

*** EDIT *** - May 17, 2007
I found this recent picture of Brice Beckham on his
MySpace page:

Knowing that he likes it from a well spoken British man, I am willing to offer myself to "feel the hole" Mr. Mr. Belvedere left.

what in the name of god happened to his forhead, it's like a barn door, did he have some kind of hair transplant to hide it?

WOW! He is very cute! Such a dreamy smile:) Glad i live in LA, CA...maybe I'll check out his next play!

Stop talking shit about Brice, he's a friend of mine and he's not washed up. He's doing a hell of a lot behind the scenes, as well as on camera. What have YOU done with your life "DIAM"?
And for the record, "I Hate My 30's" was the funniest thing they put on VH1 or any "music" channel... ever. The whole cast is great.

Yeah, I don't know, man...I like making fun of washed up child celebrities as much as the next guy, but it looks like Wesley grew up to be a perfectly normal, successful person. Why the hate?

He's surprisingly good looking. Average, but good looking. No signs of excessive drug use. Sounds like success to me.

I'm really getting a Bronson Pinchot vibe from the last picture.

only a bitter losers will have a blog about former tv stars, say hi to you mom for me when you come up from your room in the basement

Stop this insanity!!! Don't say anything if you can't say something nice about someone. What if people wrote these horrible things about you or your family? Brice seems like a real decent guy who made more of himself than all of you who made these horrible comments.

Brice is a talented film producer and he's really smart and funny, which makes him sexy.

Anonymous said...

Man looking at all these comments describing him as hot and sexy seems wrong. I mean the last thing I think about when I think of wesley is sexiness. I am a few years younger but I keep watching the reruns of Mr belvedere and at this point he seems more like a brother. To call him sexy by some of you feels wrong. Wow.

Why does everyone have to be so mean? At least he was in a hit show. if he never is in anything else, at least he can brag about this. What do you nothings have? Nothing! He looked to "Mr. Belvadere" as a father figure, so of course Brice would have been upset about Christopher's leaving the show. You idiots have to put a homosexual spin on everything to get your jollies.

Brice is hot!

HE'S VERRRY SEXY. I THINK THE IDIOTS THAT BLOGGED IN 2007 ARE JUST JEALOUS LITTLE WEASLES. THEY ARE MOST LIKELY UGLY AND WISH THEY COULD LOOK LIKE BRICE. BRICE WILL NEVER HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE LADIES.BRICE HAS A BEAUTIFUL SMILE.

Is he gay? I am seriously wondering. I dont know. If a man is in his late 30s/early 40s and still single he is gay. Unless they are George Clooney and confirmed bachelors or something. So I wonder: is he gay?

WOW!!! What a sad sack of douches! I was watching a rerun of Mr. Belvedere & thought I'd look to see what else Brice has done & came across these sickass posts! I think he did an awesome job on that show, especially for a child actor. Good for you Brice, sounds like life has been good to you. Consider yourself lucky to have been able to lead a normal life after being on such a popular show. Don't know about you, but I would hate to be famous. Looks like you got to have both, a public life & a private one. I'm sure he's still enjoying those royalty checks as well.

In the Camp Refugee episode of American Dad (where they also reference Chris Makepeace), Roger claims he just did a "Mr. Belvedere" in his pants. This was in reference to a "very special" episode of Mr. Belvedere dealing with the issue of child molestation. In that episode, Wesley is touched inappropriately by a camp counselor & involuntarily ejaculates in his pants.

This is very similar to nearly every episode of Saved by the Bell: The New Class. The only exception being nothing about Screech & Mr. Belding's touching & subsequent mutual ejaculation was unintentional.

Oh dear! How dare you say that me and Wesley had a relationship! The only person that I had a relationship with was Bobby Uecker! He used to practice with my big microphone for his baseball announcer gigs! Oh boy did he practice with my mic! Good ole times!

I've always loved Brice, I guess everyone has haters too bad people never learn to be kind.

I would not call people who have made no attempts at a career in acting as washed up. Compared to a lot of the sitcoms of that time, the cast of Mr. Belvedere is doing pretty well in their personal lives: no alcoholism or substance abuse of any kind, no fucked up personal lives. They are just normal people. I mean Christopher hewett died at 81 - which is a ripe, old age. Ilene Graff is doing fine. Married to the same man - doing small things here and there, supporting her daughter who is singer/dancer. Rob Stone is a married man and has 2 kids. He works for a digital firm as consultant and does documentaries (i.e. he is a salaried employee) and Brice Beckham is close to his family, is studying film at USC and seems like an overall normal guy even though as a child star je could have gone the wrong route, such as many beofre him. Bob Uecker is still active as a sports caster of some kind, i mean he is also in his late 70s, I heard his son died a few months ago which is tragic but life and Tracy Wells is a mother of two who has a steady job and seems pretty cool and stable too. She is not washed up, she just chose another path. So how is that washed up? it's not like these are fucked up people.

Washed up are people who try to hang on to their fame, end up 20 pounds overweight with a crystal meth addiction or some other kind of addiction, it's people who desperately hang on to their past glory days but to no avail since they have fucked up lives now but I wouldnt count Brice Beckham or any cast member of Belvedere in that category. I mean i see on facebook how they sometimes have get togethers and reunion dinners with all cast members and still seem close and they all lead normal lives - more or less.

I think you should better scrutinize your choices of what is considered washed up.

Yeah no. That's not what that is in reference to at all.

He is gay right? Not that it matters, I am just wondering. I mean he lives in West Hollywood, is in his late 30s and unmarried, - he is gay right?

I have known Brice since the late 90s. He is a very nice guy without the demons we've come to expect from former child stars. He is also very low key, probably because by the age of 8 he knew he had nothing to prove. None of us looks great in every pic, and without passing any judgment since I'm hetero myself I'll just say in real life he looks a lot more like the goatee pic than the my space one. And he is definitely NOT gay, though I'm sure a lot of you gay guys reading this blog wish he was. He has had serious relationships with women including at least one marriage.

I read these comments and wonder how many of you need to remove the sandpaper from your toilet seats. He is washed up, he is gay because he hasn't broadcast a relationship or marriage. He shared a dirty needle with me. What a pathetic pack of scourges who have posted on this board! So he chose not to live in the narcissistic public life. That makes him washed up? Perhaps he deliberately lapsed from this life as he tired of it, or saw the unpleasantness behind the scenes and chose to scale down his life.

And as for the rest of you ripping this man's looks apart.... You have to wonder what the readers would think if the cameras were reversed and we could see the posters. A bunch of frumpy, overweight pale people who pass as unattractive with bad hairdos, dumpy clothes and a bitter perspective on life. There is nothing wrong of asking if he is gay or not, as there are many gay people in this world who like to date. But some people's comments, particularly Ellen's seemed fueled by negativity or the motive of tearing down this human being.

The bottom line is Brice is still alive, addiction free and hasn't crashed like several child actors. Be nice with your comments, or else your nasty karma will come back to bite you.

Wow. Just came in here to see what Wesley's future looked like. I didn't realize so many of you knew him so well to be able to say those things about him. Seriously? Good luck, "Wes"

Wow. Such hostility. I just came in here curious to learn about 'Wesley's life. Do you people know him? How cruel to cavalierly throw barbs just because you can hiding behind your little thumbs as you text. I learned more about you bloggers...sad.

This website is such a piece of shit. Besides this, what the hell did the owner of this steaming pile ever do? Brice Beckham hasn't bothered or done harm to anyone. He was a child actor, he went on to finish his education, and he's constantly remained in the field of comedy. Why is he being attacked again? I realize that most if the offensive comments were made years ago... sorry I didn't discover this until I stepped into it, and started scraping off my shoes.

Thanks Ellen. So much negativity here. It was a relief to read. Brice grew up to be very handsome man. Just because someone chooses to be single does NOT mean they are gay. Oh Mr Belvidere is on Antenna TV Saturday's at 4 pm EST/EDST. Wasn't that Brice Beckham in that soda commercial on the beach several years ago?

Anonymous said...

I don't know Brice but still watch the show. I think he's still really cute and haven't heard he's "washed up". I can't imagine a musical of "Deliverance", unless it's a comedy. One showing was enough thanks!

No kidding! This website needs to be taken down... I didn't even read most of the comments bc they are of no relevance. It's refreshing to see a former child star who maintained a level head and got an education. It's also nice that he remained in the field and perusing what makes him happy. I'm a huge fan of Brice, not only from Mr. Belvedere (which I still watch and love), but the projects he's done as an adult are hilarious. Pay no mind to the nonsense of this site, and look up some of the productions he's been a part of. It's a hell of a lot better than most of the shit you'll find on TV these days!

Anonymous said...

No one desearve all the hate. Watching the old show now and he was cute.Im sure he's doing well and glad to hear it. Most child stars have a rough time after stardomhe appears to ne successful in his own right!

He isn’t. He’s a total prick in real life. I unfortunately know him. He’s a pathetic piece of shit, honestly.
