Pauly Shore

Pauly Shore is a stand-up comedian and actor who rose to stardom in the mid-1990s overcoming his troll-like looks and incredibly unfunny persona. He started out on the MTV show “Totally Pauly.” “Totally Pauly” ran for 4 years and then Shore segued into movies, starring in a minor box-office hit “Encino Man” in 1992. Shore followed up with roles in movies that are generally viewed as being some of the worst movies produced during the 1990s, including “Son in Law,” “Jury Duty,” and “Bio-Dome,” playing an androgynous fruitcake in each.

When the American public finally realized his lack of comedic talent, Shore's movie roles dried up. In an effort to regain the spotlight, Shore appears to have gotten a hair transplant (or hair plugs) as show in the picture below.

Shore recently realized that desperate times call for desperate measures and needed a way to force his way into the public eye. So he decided it would be funny to stage a beating at one of his standup shows. Look at the Youtube video below. It looks real, doesn’t it? I was also convinced until I read this article that it was nothing more than a setup by a comic whose time has long-since slipped away. All of this makes him one washed-up celebrity!

*** Update - November 9, 2007 ***

TMZ.com recently added some new pictures of Pauly Shore hanging out at the beach. I'm amazed at how fat and out-of-shape Pauly Shore has become:

Paying someone to beat you up just for a bit of media coverage - can you sink any lower?!

...did you ever see the reality show he had on TBS?... what a washed-up loser...

Anything for publicity! The true sign of a desperate celeb! He'll be outing himself next, or appearing on E Hollywood True Stories

You know what's really sad? I saw this loser on VH1's real estate show. The loser owns 5 homes in LA. He was looking at selling two of them for 7 million and getting a bigger house. For what? His pairs of sneakers?

I'm staying at a hotel in Midland TX and Pauly is on the cover of the local in-room "entertainment" magazine with a cover headline that says (no joke):

Pauly Ain't Dead. He's live in Odessa.

Sad sad sad.

i cant believe you have pauly on here! he is freaking great!

He had a recent appearance on HBO's Entourage, where he (Pauly) got thrown out of the Playboy mansion. I think it was his finest and funniest performance to date!

This guy was washed up when he was at his peak. He basically reheated Sean Penn's stoner character and used his family's show biz connections to get on MTV, then he made some shit movies that nobody saw, then he faked an attack on the web. Now he's probably sucking dick for beer money. I don't care if his fat ass was hanging out with some high dollar hooker, there are a lot of women who will fuck ANYONE, even a former joke like Pauly, if it gives them even the remotest chance of getting their name mentioned on TMZ.

I really think Pauly Shore is funny. Why does everyone have to be so harsh. They maybe don't appreciate his comedy....He's not a bad actor either. At all.

I really liked the old movies like Jury Duty and Son in Law. In fact everyone I know liked those movies. I agree everything he does now sucks and his stand up is terrible and he cant really act but those movies were fun to watch. He is washed up for sure but I think it just became "cool" to hate on him when people did enjoy his work. It has nostalgia for me. Seems like a good dude IRL to.

Paulie made his mark as a personality - not on talent - much like Paris Hilton... (Not that they are even remotely the same - Paris is blond, and all her good movies are poorly lit...)

Paulie was already sinking fast when he had enough Hollywood clout and money to get "Paulie Shore is Dead" made. As I recall, this "I am not Spock" mocumentary was pretty much Paulie telling it like it was - with his tongue set firmly in his cheek. It was a differnt brand of comedy than we had seen before, and unfortunately, it completely destroyed the illusion the world had of him. He wasn't his cute, funny, mind fuzzed self, and audiences felt betrayed and totally dropped him like a steaming dog turd!

I am sure Paulie thinks he is funny, but pulling an Andy Koffman on stage was not the route to go! Paulie is certainly not Andy Koffman, and to change his brand of humor in mid stream (as it were) does not always portray variety, as much as it can portray artistic schizophrenia! How could you sink any lower than pretending to have yourself beaten up? - oh yeah, you could have yourself kidnapped like Frank Sinatra Jr...!

If Paulie wants to even think of saving his career, (or is it too late?) he needs to do some serious acting just to show the world that he has some real tallent. Maybe a season or two on some lawyer show, wearing a three peice suit, and pontificate before a jury. Otherwise he will need to get a well written parady of a James Bond thriller...

The height of his career was certainly when he seemed harmless, yet well meaning (Son in Law, In the Army Now, Jury Duty) - not after he became cynical towards the Hollywood machine that helped make him into the fad he was.

He had some lame reality show called "Minding The Store" I believe where he was managing some comedy store his Mother owns. It sucked and was cancelled and no one has ever heard of it.

the punch didn't seem fake; maybe he just realized that by paying the guy to agree it was fake he could get equivalent publicity without the shame of having his ass kicked and the guy would even avoid charges.

Has anyone seen the movie, "Pauly Shore is Dead"? I caught this one late night when I was up on cable. This movie seals the deal in the fact that he is a washed up actor.

I saw him in a local comedy club a few years ago. His 'act', if you can call it that, made me want to beat him up for real.

Encino Man and Son in Law were awesome. I love those movies. and i do think that unlike Ben freaking Stiller, Pauly Shore is actually funny. I guess the problem arises from later in his career, when he tried another kind of comedy persona.

If Paulie wants save his career he has to appear in a major Hollywood production reminiscent of Knocked Up, Superbad or Deuce Bigelow" or something. Even if it just as an awesome second lead and someone else's sidekick. That and a reappearance on SNL and just some major productions.

But seriously Encino Man is a classic. I liked it when i was 15 and i still love it.

I mean Adam fucking Sandler. I always confuse him with Ben Stiller even though I think Sitller is hella funny.

Pauly Shore's dumb act was kind of funny in the early 1990's, given his relative youth. Watching him do it now is embarrassing.

Pauly doesn't need to work anymore. He owns the Comedy Store on Sunset. So he just cashes in from that and also leaves with his mom. I know his buddy lived next to me in Hollywood and Pauly would come by from time to time.

I think you meant to say his BUH-dy lived next to you in Hollywood

There was the old Movieline magazine that often snarked on celebrities. Beautiful pictures and interviews with all the big stars. One issue featured an in depth interview with Pauly Shore, which left me aghast with horror over what a disgusting, offensive, and stupid creature he was. I wasn't alone, the outraged letters to the editors from outraged readers rolled in. For months. MONTHS.

Behavior that could be amusing from someone in their late teens and 20's is just embarrassing from people in their 50's. Pauly Shore needs to grow up.

I want to see Pauly at my local crack den. What else has he got going on? Jack squat thats what. Big time fun waits for you Pauly at the dope house in my neighborhood. Think about it, you know want to.

The fact that Pauly Shore is washed-up made me cry for years. I'm finished crying now. I'm breaking up with all of my Pauly Shore VHS tapes and donating them to someplace that will take them. Hello new life, good bye Pauly!
