Jake Lloyd
Jake Lloyd is a former child star best known for his role as the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Star Wars fans generally disliked The Phantom Menace and cast much of the blame on Lloyd, effectively killing Lloyd's acting career and causing him to grow up to become incredibility bitter young man.
Lloyd was born March 5, 1989 in Fort Collins, Colorado and broke into acting in 1996, when he had a recurring role on the TV show ER and appeared in the TV movie Apollo 11 and the motion picture Unhook the Stars. Although most people know Lloyd as "the kid who ruined Star Wars," more astute movie buffs may also remember Lloyd as "the kid who ruined Jingle All The Way." In Jingle All The Way, Lloyd played Jamie Langston, the incredibly bratty son of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Howard Langston character. Perhaps Lloyd was instructed to be a little brat in the movie, although even if he was following directions, his character was nevertheless very grating and annoying and generally detracted from the overall movie experience of the casual viewer.
Notwithstanding his performance in Jingle All The Way, Lloyd continued to receive choice role and appeared to be heading for stardom. Lloyd appeared in several episodes of the moderately successful NBC drama, The Pretender, between 1996 and 1998. In 1999, Lloyd really hit the big time when he was cast as the young Anakin Skywalker in the first movie of the long-awaited Star Wars prequels, entitled Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Lloyd played the young boy who would become the Jedi knight who turned to the Dark Side of the Force and later became the evil Darth Vader. Lloyd seems to have been horribly miscast as Anakin Skywalker in large part because he seemed to be far too young for the role. The start of a romance with the much older Padmé Amidala (played by Natalie Portman) was difficult to believe, as Lloyd was only 10 years old when the movie was released, whereas Portman was 18 years old. Fans also complained about Lloyd's inability to deliver his lines in a believable manner and with realistic emotions.
Lloyd also had to give up to 60 interviews a day, which is a lot of ask of a 10-year-old boy. Lloyd quickly grew to resent Hollywood in general and blamed George Lucas for putting him through the ordeal. Lloyd effectively stopped acting after The Phantom Menace, although he did lend his voice to several Star Wars video games.
Lloyd claims that all of the criticism from his appearance in The Phantom Menace made his life a living hell. He says that his classmates would tease him by making light saber sounds whenever they would see him. Here is an itnerview where Lloyd complains about treatment by his former high school and college classmates:
Lloyd became so angry and bitter that eventually destroyed all of his Star Wars memorabilia. I bet that Lloyd is also angry because he appears to have stopped growing at age 10. Lloyd looks pretty shrimpy in this photo:
Even though more than 10 years have passed since The Phantom Menace was released, Lloyd is still very angry, as is evident in this 2009 interview at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo held in Perth, Australia. Lloyd apparently traveled to Australia to meet Star Wars fans, yet he came across as a complete jerk in this interview:
Despite having little apparent acting talent and ability, Jake Lloyd was a successful young actor who received choice roles. However, fairly or unfairly, Lloyd received much of the criticism from fans unhappy with The Phantom Menace. Lloyd has grown up to become a very unhappy and bitter young man who is still hung up a role he had when he was 10 years old. He still goes to conventions because he presumably is paid to do so and needs money, yet he seems angry when asked about his experience in The Phantom Menace. For this and the other reasons discussed above, Jake Lloyd is one washed-up celebrity!
*** Update - June 21, 2015 ***
Jake Lloyd was arrested on South Carolina police on a 25-mile high-speed chase at speeds up to 100 mph on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Lloyd reportedly crashed through a fence while attempting to evade police. Lloyd told the police that his name was "Jake Broadbent." He has a $10,700 bond and is being held on charges of resisting arrest, reckless driving, driving without a license and failure to stop.

oh man i am so glad you're back. these are hilarious. do more, more, more, more...
Yeah, this guy was nothing more than a dirtbag with a good agent!
About time , sick of checking for updates :)
In the interveiw he did come across as a rather "borderline" condescending little fart.
I want to bugger Natalie Port-girl (as the bird was in 1999 when the bird was 18, not as the bird is now obviously).
What's with the weirdo that keeps calling women "birds"? That's so 1960s.
BOTR, that weirdo is me.
You`re that pervert whos obsessed with Heather O`Rourke.
I`m not a pervert, i was just born into "THE TIME OF SEXUAL REPRESSION" like millions of other poor bastards. 30 years from now when "THE TIME OF SEXUAL REPRESSION" is over there will be Heather O`Rourke lookalikes literally everywhere, sexually pleasuring everyone left, right, and centre...LEGALLY ! ! !.
I love Jervaise Brooke Hamster.
Jervaise, you are a genius and i salute you.
Re: Heather: i`m gonna be in love
with you as well for all eternity
little darlin` ! ! !.
Re: BOTR: Cheers my old mate, its
nice to know you`re not a silly
bastard after all ! ! !.
area code 386 holler at yo boy!
The blame lies with George Lucas for casting Lloyd. There is footage of the Anakin casting in which dozens of much better actors auditioned for the role. But for some strange reason, Lucas chose Lloyd. Yeah, Lloyd sucked, but his performance was just a tiny problem in regards to what was wrong with The Phantom Menace.
Lloyd was Awful. However Ahmed Best, the actor who played Jar Jar, was worse. I recently read an interview with him where he DEFENDED the role! Best claimed that the Jamaican patois speaking dreadlocked character wasn't a stereotype or "sellout" type of a role. Really? They made Best play the modern day equivalent of sambo and the guy actually defended the role? That's just sad. Ahmed Best would make for another "washed up actor" as he's still doing voice roles and bit parts on TV. Worse yet, he still plays Jar Jar!
Oh, the things actors do to justify their worst roles.
I dunno. I feels little sorry for him.
I must have missed something during the course of that clip: Did Junior-Jedi Jake-the-Loser Lloyd say he was 'studying psychology' or that he was actually 'being studied' by psychologists for the last ten years?
If so then I wish him far more luck in the next 10 years of treatment (than he had in the previous ten), which we can only hope will be far more successful for him and whatever relatives, neighbors or whoever else he currently tediously bothers.
Prediction: 20 years from now he will pull a "James Mason - A Star is Born" moment and stumble up swinging away at Lucas while George is getting yet another direction award for "Star Wars. The Next Commercialization" production, with Lloyd proclaiming: "I wanna an award from all of you losers out there for my 30+ year efforts to almost get my psychology night-school degree. Atticus, Atticus!"
Oh smoooth move anikian.
I never knew a blog niche like this ever existed where some body is talking about washed up celebrities. Nice write ups, keep it up.
I'm sure that being scapegoated as a child can make a person bitter and defensive. I'm not saying his performance was anything to brag about, just that a 10-year old child is not equipped to deal with that kind of scrutiny and the bullying he endured at school made things worse. Jake did seem irritated and condescending in the interview. Hopefully the passage of time will help.
I doubt that even the greatest actor on earth could make a stinker such as The Phantom Menace look good.....Let alone a 10 year old kid. Who's next in the firing line on this site? Maybe Adam Sandler? Having a crack at Heather O Rourke may be difficult, unless you like dead chicks hahah. Keep up the good work guys.
Hey "Tgirl", i love dead chicks and i`d love to bugger Heathers 25 year-old rotting corpse ! ! !. By the way, sorry i had to change your name, its because of my murderous homo-phobia.
According to our sources, Jake was spotted throwing bottles of piss at a pestering group of journalists outside a New Jersey Hotel
Actually I thought he was OK in the Phantom Menace. Who decides wether he's washed up or not. This is rubbish
Does he still pay male prostitutes to beat him?
You need to do an entry on Erin Moran, who played Joanie on "Happy Days." Her and her husband are now homeless!
Here is a recent picture of her.

What is "washed up" about the people shown ?
This is probably the least impressive blog post I've ever read. It's very conformist, tres au courant. Very easy to take down someone for a having an odd personality and misfortune. he was in one movie that wasn't very good. I hope you see the error of your ways because doing this is a waste of your matter.
I have an idea! I could make a blog cataloging people's misfortunes! I'm sure to gain an audience of loyal losers (and internet trawling pervs looking for a free outlet to be disgusting) who will eat this shit up and feel better about their mediocre lives....dude, I hope you getting good rev for your adds cos the price of your integrity is high.
Jake was such a little cutie when he was a just a young boy... such big blue eyes and so adorable :)
Jar Jar Binks said it best when he said, "Meesa scared."
What a bitter prick. Your at a comic convention and you give the interviewer slant eyes for asking Star Wars questions. Quit acting like your not a nerd. As Arnold would say in Jingle All The Way, "Aww, poor baby..."
He looks like Ricky Schroder
He is barely bitter at all, we can all clearly see you have no self-worth, but you don't need to take it out on others.
It's not his fault he starred in what is possibly the worst star wars movie ever made. (Thank you very much Geroge Lucas). Personally i found Jingle all the way to be a cheezy movie and besides, Jake just seemed like an annoying little brat throughout the entire movie. Jake isn't a washed up celebrity. At best i'd say he was a "never was".
I was 25 when he was 10 and played Anakin... boy, I had such a crush on him, I could watch his pictures for hours. Still, I found his performance as Anakin dry, detached and unemotional. I felt bad because I knew he would be bashed badly, and back then I could kiss the floor he walked upon. One day one of my sham-girlfriends discovered some pics of him in my wallet... I had to give long explanations!
Not interested in him anymore, but I wish him the best.
Aidan, thank you for participating in the most bizarrely creepy comment awards - you're the winner for 2012!
I really hope the restraining order never expires.
The sad thing is this 'washed up' celebrities worst moment would eclipse the best moments in most peoples lives. I'd hardly call staring in a massive Star Wars movie and having an acting career a tragic story.
And also, he's not as fat like the sixth sense kid.
That last interviewer was all but laughing athim during the questions. Not much surprise that he got angry. Still, the other interview he comes off as petty and more than casually pretentious.
Yeah, if there is anyone to blame- it's this kids agent for making him believe he could act.
Aiden, if you were a 25 year old man with a crush on a 10 year old boy - I seriously hope no one leaves you alone with a kid. And the girlfriend you mentioned I'm sure needed more than an explanation. Any reasonable woman would punt your pedo ass immediately.
Okay, as snappy and condescending and facetious as the kid was being, that interviewer really DID have it coming. He's an asshole who thinks he's SO CUTE baiting an obviously disillusioned former actor, like his snark was lost in translation. It wasn't, trust me. "Oh, so it's been 10 years, you haven't been a blip on the radio since, what..'99 was it?" With that haughty, righteous laugh. Real funny, you arrogant elitist jerk...no better than vapid, gossipy bitches tipsy on cheap wine after hours driveling on about their 'friends' sordid affairs. Like you're any more famous, and your 'journalistic license' gives you the right to patronize others with such blatant, transparent cattiness and mockery, completely devoid of subtlety. Did it make the sad correspondent feel like a big guy to make an example of a CHILD ACTOR?
Anyone who is throwing a 10 year old under the bus is sick. He didn't know better...can you even imagine being 10, getting to do a Star Wars movie, seems like a good time, right? Every kids dream? Then the world collectively takes a dump on you. I'd be bitter too.
Just saying, have a little sympathy for him, his life was ruined before he had enough street smarts to know it. And now no one will let him put the past behind him and move on. He no-saled this smarmy, barmy fuck, and that's the smartest thing to do. Was probably hoping if he was nonresponsive enough, guy would take the hint and flitter off.
This kid will never have to work a regular job for the rest of his life off the back off TPM's residuals. I wish I was this much of a washed-up loser.
I met him at a comic book convension in iowa a few years back, seemed like a nice guy and answered all my question. The only messed up thing that happened was I asked him for his autograph for a poster, he said to meet him in the parking lot at 6, then he whipped out is dick and jacked off all over my poster. I don't know if I'm gonna sell it, because it has sentimental value, I lick it everyday.
Lloyd sounded pretty normal. It sounded to me that the interviewer was trying to smugly bait him. Lloyd even said something to that effect during the interview when he said he was trying to figure out what the "real" meaning of the questions were. I got the impression that Lloyd is just a guy who was a child star who realized that he prefers to be behind the camera than I'm front of it. I hope he has success like Ron Howard did.
That jerk interviewer was trying to bait Jake Lloyd, who was understandably annoyed. Hopefully, Lloyd will find success and happiness.
there was a rumor that Jake auditioned for the role of Ender Wiggin in the film Ender's Game, but it was feared that fans of Ender's Game would judge him for his role in the Star Wars film.
Does he have Downs Syndrome or something? What's with the bowl cut and the slitty chromosome eyes? That said, apparently they're very sexual and quite aggressive in the bedroom - if you know what I mean!
By that, I mean, anal intercourse.
The interviewer seemed to be using antagonistic undertones in his lines of questioning.
Wow,Jakes a bit of a tool!
you ordinary people tards leave the poor kid alone dont you have a fucking conscience you made his life into the mess it is i actually loved all the star wars movies and didnt even care for his performance wich matter of fact was still better than anything you wouldve doneat his age i mean what have you all done with your lives?
Jake looks like hes a little touched by the retard stick. That's okay, most of the people showing-up to those conventions are in the same boat.
Wow, to be so judgmental about someone you don't even know....he has family that cares about him and it is total crap to have to see this unwarranted meanness. Give your opinion but have a little class about it.
You don't like Schwarzenegger do you?
I think a lot of comments are from bitter people, perhaps even people who dreamed of fame and never made anything of their lives. I mean are you truly a happy person, content with your life if your online putting down a 10 years old child actor, I just cant imagine why else anyone would except to spread their own misery.
I think the guy comes over cogent and intelligent ... When people ask assinine questions like 'so you've not acted for ten years' with an edge of 'so your career is over'...at no point does he slam the idiot interviewer with. "I am 20 ...My career, whatever I choose it to be, has yet to start! Oh and its debt free graduation thanks to playing a role as a kid which seems a big deal to you lot...but to me was just a movie that needed a kid" Gr's not a washed up actor...I doubt if you asked him to describe himself, acting wouldn't be mentioned. Bitter? No. The only vibe of bitterness I can detect is the pleasure that some seem to gain from declaring others 'washed up'...as though jealous of what they consider their apogee and in some bizarre way, thinking that the relative fall of another in some way raises their own status. In short, a spiteful and not very perceptive website
Here's an update for you Movie Fan if you haven't already seen it. He almost resembles a young Charles Manson in this photo.
‘Star Wars’ actor Jake Lloyd moved to psychiatric facility

This guy coined the phrase "Geez Up Hoes Down!" Ask Snoop Dogg if you do not believe me!
Jake was a horrible actor and one of the main reasons Phantom Menace stunk so badly. You'd have thought George Lucas would have been more careful before casting Lloyd since the Star Wars franchise is him main claim to fame and Phantom Menace tarnished that legacy. I kept thinking while I was watching it, "This is what I waited 13 years for?"
I feel for Jake. He was sexually abused as a little boy, so add on the attention of being in a huge movie like Star Wars and the bullies and it's easy to see how things went wrong. He was a beautiful, sweet innocent little boy with so talent (in my opinion) and much to look forward to but then he became yet another Hollywood child molestation. I understand why he left acting and went crazy considering that's what led to him getting his most memorable movie part.
Seems he's now locked up in mental hospital, having been transferred there after his arrest. Schizophrenia is what he apparently has.
This place is a cesspit. If any of you had even a shred of dignity or empathy, you wouldn't come here just to insult a kid who has clearly suffered enough from hateful attacks like these. Jake was a pure, bright-eyed boy who was just excited to be involved in movie making, and bullies like all of you took that innocence from him. I'm sorry if the pain in your own lives has driven you to act cruelly towards others, but this is not the way to cope. It only makes the world a worse place.
