Marc Price is a former child actor best known for his role as über-dork Erwin "Skippy" Handleman on the hit 1980s sitcom Family Ties. Family Ties was a breeding ground for washed-up celebrities (e.g., see Brian Bonsall and Tina Yothers), and Price was certainly no exception to the rule. Price was born on February 23, 1966 and is the son of stand-up comedian Al Bernie. Price broke into acting in 1980 with a non-recurring role in the British TV show Julliet Bravo. A short time later Price acquired his career-defining role as Skippy Handleman on Family Ties.
The Skippy character was the best buddy of Alex P. Keaton (played by Michael J. Fox), who was generally accepted as the star of the show. Skippy provided comic relief on Family Ties and often did dumb things. However, unlike some other child actors, Price was actually funny as Skippy and was generally liked at the height of the show's popularity. Skippy's most famous episode was one in which he discovered that he was adopted by his parents, and then wanted to be referred to only as "Baby Boy Doe."
Family Ties was on the air for a long time, from 1982-1989. Although most of Price's efforts at the time were spent on Family Ties, Price did find the time to star as a metal-head in the 1986 horror movie Trick or Treat.
After the cancellation of Family Ties in 1989, Price quickly found another acting gig, this time as the host of the Disney Channel kids game show Teen Win, Lose or Draw from 1989-1992. However, after the cancellation of Teen Win, Lose or Draw in 1992, Price's career hit a major standstill. In an effort to keep busy, Price began touring as a standup comedian. He must not have wowed everyone as a standup comic, because he was once viscously attacked by a woman in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who "ferociously squeezed" his testicles while he was on tour.
Price has continued touring sporadically over the past 15 years in an apparent effort to re-enter the public limelight. In 2006 he even made an appearance on the reality TV show, Last Comic Standing, although he didn't make it past the first round.
Price has completely let himself go since the 1980s. He is becoming a complete tank-ass and has a rapidly widening gut, as shown in the picture below. He must also be sensitive about his advancing age, because his own MySpace page lists his age as "34," and his IMDB indicates that he was born in 1968, although as far as I can tell he was actually born in 1966, although he looks far older than 41. He is so desperate for money and attention that he is whoring himself on the washed-up celebrities website, Hollywood is Calling, offering to talk to people on the phone in exchange for a fee.
Price has several photos linked to his MySpace page. The picture below is of Price standing next to fellow washed-up celebrity Dustin "Screech" Diamond. Trying to free-ride off Screech is pathetic enough, but what is even worse is the fact that it appears as though Screech wasn't even standing next to Price when this picture was taken. I'm almost positive that I have seen this image of Screech previously and he wasn't standing near to Marc Price. In the image below, it looks like Price may have photo-shopped a picture of Screech to make it appear as though he was standing next to Screech. For this and the other reasons discussed above, Marc Price is one washed-up celebrity!
He looks like Sean Astin's Uncle - but a pervy uncle who always gets a bit too friendly at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHmm where does this washed up celebrities get it's info. Imbd list him as being two years younger & as still keeping busy. I know that site isn't always accurate either, but someone has to get their facts straight. What is the deal with this?
ReplyDeleteHe looks as though he has a right pervy streak. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was the sort of guy to spike your drink, and then make you call him 'Skippy' during a blow-job
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on Skippy... I've been looking for info on him for a while...
ReplyDelete^^^9:23 PM, I addressed descrepecancies about his age near the end of the Marc Price profile. IMDB lists his birth year as 1968, but other websites list 1966, and his own MySpace page lists his age as 34. I think that 1966 is his correct birth year, although I am not certain of this.
ReplyDeletei hear he and his wife recently adopted a baby
ReplyDeleteand he is partners with the founder of the improv comedy clubs. You can visit Marc at www.iJoke.tv
i think he is still cute... even if he is really 39 now.
Who doesn't lie about their age in hollywood?
Is he related to Sean Astin? Could sure pass for his older much perverted brother. By the way Skippy rules! He's dah man! Rub my fur!
ReplyDeleteScreech you now have a beer drinkin buddy in Marc.
ReplyDeleteits horrible what age does to people. then again, this dude was never good looking, but others were.
ReplyDeleteskippy was soooo freakin annoying!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd this poor chap was never a looker.
I think that any celebrity that has their picture taken with Screech should qualify as a has-been, even if it's Will Ferrel.
ReplyDeleteAs for new material for this blog, I would like to see a couple cast members from 90210, especially Brian Austin Green* and the dude that played Nat. Last I heard about "Nat", he was trying to start up Peach Pit restaurants across the country.
*Mostly because I want to see what JewveBeenFramed would say about him; that dude never fails to make me laugh.
he's so damn kewl that we should all be just like the skipinator.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Jewved hasn't paid 20 dollars to speak to him personally - Marc is one of about 20...er...celebs available at Hollywoodiscalling.com - Tragic
ReplyDeletei just found this in depth current bio on skippy. It doesn't say anything about him being married or adopting a child. It does say he is partnered with the owner of the Improvs, Budd Friedman. Apparently he is making big bank as a producer

I live near the guy, and see him around the neighborhood from time to time. He's friendly and doesn't have an ounce of the aloof celebrity attitude. I've chatted with him a couple of times over the years, and I have nothing bad to say about him at all. He's very likable, and I think has been relatively successful in his post acting career.
ReplyDeleteMarc is my cousin! Our moms are sisters. We never met. I can't get in touch with him. Anyone know like a fan page or something I could write to I tried myspace but he has not been on in a while. Email me if you know anything else renthead@tmail.com
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anyone says, this guy is a fucking legend. If anyone deserves a comeback into mainstream films and TV...it's Marc Price. Trick or Treat 2 would be a good start...how about it, Marc?
ReplyDeleteHe was a teen star. He looks great! 40 has all his hair and is one of the nicest guys in Stand Up. I would love to see what the people look like that are bashing him.
ReplyDeleteRIP Marc"The skipman"Price
ReplyDeletehttp://obits.al.com/obituaries/huntsville/obituary.aspx?n=marc-anthony-price&pid=127511689
Oh man I went to the obituary , he really did die. Thats to bad, all jokeing aside I liked skippy.
ReplyDeleteUh, that obit says he was born in 1984. That's not him.
ReplyDeleteThis is one major shit blog... people get poor by fate, no need to make fun and celebrate it. after seeing the comments posted by some, I understand that there are more bad people that i thought
ReplyDeleteI am a stand-up comedian and did a show with Marc last night. He is not creepy at all and is super nice. I think this is the Fox News of celebrity blog sites.
ReplyDeleteI went to junior high with Marc Price, and he was pretty much a gigantic douchebag, although this was at the height of his fame so maybe it was to be expected. He was one of those self-appointed class clowns who acted like an idiot in class, only absolutely nobody ever laughed at his antics, and pretty much everyone thought he was ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is that he really considered himself a master thespian, and took himself VERY seriously as an actor even though he was only known for being Skippy. I can only hope that his years of being a washed up celebrity have tempered his ego somewhat.
Skippy, we love you and you help make that show a success.
ReplyDeleteMarc didn't go to highschool. My uncle was his set tutor and igot to meet him many times. He was just like skippy in real life. Always smiling and he signed a comedy tour tee shirt for me and I still have it. It says mommy skippy scared me tour and it's dated 1987!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's disgusting how you talk about Marc Price. I thought he was very funny on Family Ties, and should have received more recognition. I saw him on the TV Land Awards, April 17th, 2011. He is a little overweight, but he looks fine. I wish him continued success in whatever he wants to do with his life. Stop putting him down. Have any of you looked in the mirror lately?
ReplyDeleteWhoever created this site sounds like a much bigger washed up loser than any of these people cuold ever be.
ReplyDeleteits a shame to read some of these comments and realize just how disgusting some of your attitudes are...is it that you people are jealous that Marc had success in his life and you people just sit on your couch or in front of the computer with nothing better to do then bash people because you have nothing?...does it make you all feel better to put someone down that you have never met?Unfortunatly this is just one of the reasons that the world is the way that it is... Take a look at your lives and just strive to be better people. I wish Marc nothing but the best, as i wish all of you out there love and happiness
ReplyDeleteI met Marc when when I was 14 and he was 13 at a hotel in the Catskill Mountains of NY. His father, Al Bernie was performing. Marc was a nice kid, and we played tennis and drank his dad's liquor. We were drunk most of that week. The highlight of the week was when Jackie mason performed. Because mason knew Al Bernie, he was very nice to Marc and his new friend (me). I remember drinking scotch with Jackie Mason and Marc in Mason's dressing room. Mason was also a good guy, although in today it would not be acceptable to drink with minors. I also note no reference to the short lived "Condo" series which Marc starred in with McLean Stephenson around 1982. Marc is a good guy and I hope he does well.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually a cool story. What a memory to share.... I think he still looks fine, and it's nice to see some of my youth actually doing well. When so many from that era aren't. Why is he on this site?
ReplyDeleteHe seems like a nice guy, leave him alone. So he got older and a little chubby. Does that make life not worth living.
ReplyDeleteI just met Marc at aces comedy club in Murrieta great guy great routine and still really hot.!!! thanks for signing my shirt Marc.
ReplyDeleteWhere is he now? I found a video of a commercial he did on youtube. Very funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk8N06k3lzs
ReplyDeletethe dude works behind the scenes in production and stopped acting back in early 1990 if I'm not mistaken. stop bashing people. Like everyone else the guy is just earning a living. Hollywood is a sleazy business to traverse.
ReplyDeleteMarc did a stand up in ursa Illinois this past friday night at Spirit Knob Winery .. I was a big fan of Family Ties and I had the chance to meet him ,and he is a really down to earth nice guy
ReplyDeleteBack in the 1980's, he was sort of handsome in a goofy way, but has let himself go. We should wish him well anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of the show "Family ties". Typical 80's family styled sitcom.
ReplyDeleteBut i have to admit, the character "Skippy" was a pretty annoying one. Even worse he had a crush on alex's 2 sisters and at one point his girlfriend.
Seriosuly what was Skippy's purpose on that show?
You're gonna make fun of poor Skippy & not mention his starring role in Killer Tomatoes Eat France? That movie is such an abortion that it does more to besmirch Skippy than anything said here. He is so good at making himself a joke he doesn't even need our help.
ReplyDeleteI went to Jr. High with him and yes, he was a handsome guy that was slightly goofy (walked around with a briefcase instead of a backpack, etc..). On poster who claims they went to Jr. High with him and he was trying to be the class clown is wrong. He was always a very down to earth guy, kind and approachable, even during his Family Ties fame. Also, there is no need to make fun of anybody who is above 40 with a little belly. Grow up.
ReplyDeleteMarc Price seems to be nice enough. Maybe he's in the wrong profession and he certainly needs to be in better shape, but a lot of people have that problem. Hopefully, he can find a niche and be successful and fulfilled.
ReplyDeletei saw him this weekeend in Washington State. he killed it. my face is still hurting from laughing. he looked really cute and signed tee shirts for everyone after the show (one of the best comedy shows i have ever seen here. love him cuz he's so damn skippy!
ReplyDeleteI imagine Marc logs on here once a month to leave an nice anonymous comment about himself.
ReplyDeleteI have worked with Marc in production. He's a great producer and really nice guy.
ReplyDeleteyou do realize it when people get to be middle age they put on a few pounds as your metabolism slows down.
ReplyDeleteLeave the guy alone. He accomplished far more in Hollywood than most aspiring actors can ever dream of.
ReplyDeleteIt's like putting down actors who appear on the same daytime drama for years. Better something than nothing.
I saw Marc Price doing stand up a few months ago in Tahoe. He's incredibly funny and had a great energy on stage. He's still quite handsome and even though I didn't get a chance to meet him, he certainly seemed like a very nice guy. I just don't get why he is considered "washed-up" because he decided to pursue comedy instead of becoming another Hollywood fame whore. Out of all the wannabes in Hollywood who are famous for everything BUT talent, he made the list? Seriously?!
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is rather disturbing. Is Dustin Diamond saying he gave Marc Price a shocker somehow? It would apear so, look at how he is smileing!
ReplyDeleteYou people and your malevolent criticism are really disgusting to me. Not everyone who chases a dream catches it. That doesn't make it ok to ridicule them for it. You're mean, you're spiteful and you're opportunistic. If you think the people you target are washed up then what does that make you? You never even got afloat.
ReplyDeleteDamn-you people are harsh-must be nice to sit on your pedestal and criticise people, makes you forget your own unsuccesful failing lives-what you see as flogging a dead horse is really someone with enough courage to not give up and put themselves out there-alot more than you smart asses sitting alone at a screen too afraid to do anything original-just like the person who created this site-what a lovely bitter person you must be-goodluck with your rosie lives people
ReplyDeleteWhy all the negative comments about Marc Price. Noone on here is (or has ever been) a celebrity. Just plain buffoonery to get on here and put someone down just b'cuz of lack of success. This is one miserable, hateful a** world n which we live. Folks are blatantly cruel & incredibly insensitive. Da** shame!
ReplyDeleteHey, I want to tell everyone that I met Marc when he did a gig at a club I worked at in small town, upstate, NY. I am just an ordinary young women, tending bar as a second day job to make ends meet. After Marc's hilarious performance and the club closed easier than most places (midnight), he asked a few of us staff members what there was to do, and let us drive him around to all of our favorite places. He genuinely had a great time with us and treated us as equals...not acting "celebritorial". I find it inhumane to judge and bash this guy whom I had such a pleasure meeting, who eats, sleeps and breathes just as we do. Go Skippy!
DeleteI've known Marc over the years in various comedy circles, and while it's true he has a nice and friendly side to him, he also has some serious issues and some serious attitude. I know, what one of us doesn't have issues, but this guy is about as delusional as they come about his career and life in general. I connected with him on FB about a year ago and he seems as ADD as ever. I finally defriended from all the silliness, but before I did I had a good laugh at him promoting his latest relationship with another D list celeb - like middle aged prom king and queen. Some things never change. Guy's never been very good with the ladies.... http://acomicstale.libsyn.com/s2-e8
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to reverse these comments to the good ones first!!Marc is a really decent ,good personality Witty guy!
ReplyDeleteI just met Marc Price tonight where he was performing where I worked. He seemed like a terrific guy, nice looking and even opened the door for me like a gentleman should.
ReplyDeleteMarc now works at a carwash in Ossining Ny. He does interior wipe down and tire shine. I outed him and he cursed and said he had to move again. I said no no no, I could tell every one in Ossining your name and no one would remember. He smiled and hesitated then gave me an apple car freshener. This one's on Skippy Handelman he said.
ReplyDeleteWow everybody leave skippy alone. Do you have nothing better to do than criticize people ? Life is short try to do some good in this world .
ReplyDeleteI hope this awful sight has become washed up. It appears so, since there's no comments later than sometime in 2018. We can always hope.
ReplyDeleteThis site should be taken down. Marc is very talented and those that bash him should be ashamed of themselves.
ReplyDelete
