Rob Stone

Rob Stone is an actor who played the character Kevin Owens on the sitcom Mr. Belvedere ,which was originally aired on ABC from 1985-1990. Kevin was the oldest child in the Owens family.

Stone was born on September 22, 1962 in Dallas, Texas. He started acting in Dallas doing a lot of theatre at the age 13, primarily at the Dallas Theatre Center. He later attended the University of Southern California's BFA Drama conservatory. Stone acted in several plays at USC and met his agent, who happened to be in the audience of one of them. Stone's first television roles were guest spots on The Facts of Life and V.

Stone later got his big breakthrough when he auditioned for the role of Kevin Owens on Mr. Belvedere. Mr. Belvedere was a very successful sitcom and Kevin Owens was an important character on the show. Several of the episode plotlines revolved around Kevin's attempts to meet girls.

Kevin Owens was one of the creepiest characters ever to appear on a family sitcom. There were definitely some homoerotic overtones in episodes in which the Kevin character played a large role and it seemed like it was only a matter of time until Kevin molested a kid in one of those "serious" episodes that were occasionally shown in 1980s sitcoms. Kevin seemed to be a little bit "too close" to his brother, Wesley T. Owens (played by fellow washed-up actor Brice Beckham), although nothing inappropriate was ever shown happening between them.

After Mr. Belvedere went off the air in 1990, Stone's career derailed. His only roles since the show's cancellation were in an unaired TV pilot of Revenge of the Nerds and two guest appearances on Matlock.

I'm not sure what Stone is currently doing. I know that actors often use their own experiences when playing characters, so I can only hope that the real-life Stone isn't as creepy as Stone's Kevin Owens character. There were obviously incorrect rumors that Stone was Marilyn Manson. However, regardless of what he's doing now, there can be no doubt that Rob Stone is one washed-up celebrity!

*** Update - July 5, 2009 ***

I recently discovered this strange video clip from a 1980s After School Special entitled Ace Hits the Big Time, in which Rob Stone makes an appearance. In this video, Stone appears to be attacked by a gay gang whose members beat him up in a "dance fight."

  5. Rob,
Huge Fan! Did Mr. Belvedere or Bob Eucker ever touch you or Wesley inappropriately? It'd be cool if you left your email address in here so we could all email you our pressing Mr. Belvedere questions!

  6. Rob,

Big fan of your work. I would love to meet up with you! I have a thing for former child stars and would love nothing more than to be a replacement to Mr. Belvedere. I don't mind growing a mustache if that is your thing. Hit me up ASAP and I will name a dumpster, time and place!

I hope that you prefer the company onf men. I would be disappointed to discover you are a breeder. :(

  7. He appeared in a New Edition Video which I thought was completely out of place and creepy. A bunch of hip celebrities and him just kind of riding on coatails.

  8. Rob Stone was cool and his character was well-in-tune for both the time and place and 'success' of the overall outcome of "Mr. Belvedeer."

I hope that Mr. Stone can easily overlook what is nothing more than childish fools still enamored by his former alter-ego from the days of yonder.

  9. I thought Mr. Beleverdere was funny. I don't think you can call any of the these people washed up because their work is still funny. Rob I think you are cool, if you are able let you real fan's know what you are doing or post your website.

  11. He was f-ugly, and not only that but EVERYONE but the mother on "Mr Belvedere was so ugly." The one poster probably though he was hot, because everyone else on the show was so awful looking

  12. SO entertaining, people.

  13. I saw an episode with him in the shower and fantasized about him ever since. I read that he's got a production company now and has 2 daughters (which blows my fantasy).

  14. Uh, I don't know about Rob Stone, nor would I comment since I do not know what he is up to. However, you mentioned Brice Beckham, as a "fellow washed-up actor". He in fact is not washed-up and is a board member of Drama 34 productions and makes web series and other productions, doing writing, editing, and performing for a VH-1 scripted series, called "I Hate My 30s". I mean, he can't compare to writing a blog about washed-up actors, but that's life I guess.

  15. This is offensive. It's what I did for a living for awhile. That's it. It paid very well. Now I'm living a life away from television cameras and don't miss it in the slightest. I really think those of you who are here to throw around petty insults ought to just move on. Those of you who sincerely want to touch base or have an autograph request can get in touch with my agent (yes, I still have.) If you are truly interested, you will take the time to find out who that is.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    2. I don't know where some of you people grew up but in Chicago, Rob, you were hot and did not come off gay and not that we would have cared. His persona totally fit the 80's and it was a different kind of time, people. He totally fit in the New Edition video because it was a who's who of starts that were popular back then. Much love and success!

  21. If that post above was actually Rob Stone, and if he says that he is not involved with Television...why does he have an agent? Why does he Google himself? Maybe we can find him on Face Book.

  22. I know Rob. He is one of the nicest, and most genuine people you could ever meet. Not Marilyn Manson. I believe he fell in love and had a family, which as you say, may have led to the demise of his career.

  23. Rob,
I looked you up cuz i was curious if you and Marily Manson were the same person, but I also watched Mr. Belvedere and I loved it.
I swear people are gross, especially some of those gay men, or homophobic perverts. Please, no one can see those guys when they worked at the glory hole or flipped burgers, so they can poke fun. You just had work..lucky guy who beat out tons of candidates I am sure..

  24. Wow! This is one of the most mean-spirited sites I have ever visited. I just found it because I got 3 seasons of the show for my birthday the other day and wondered about the cast. I loved the show then and found out that it still holds up as a good show. I certainly don't consider any of the cast as trying to "desperately stay in the public eye" so while your cruelty would be inappropriate in any case, in this one it has absolutely no basis.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can't we all just be nice anymore. Mr. Stone appeared in a popular show for its time and should be given credit for that. Remember, he has family who care about him. Please don't speak ill of him or the show.

  26. Rob was also in the Super Mario Brothers Super Show featuring Captain Lou Albano from the late 80s time period. This masterpiece is available on DVD for your viewing pleasure.

  27. I dont know what ya'll talking about him having been creepy and what not. I always liked him. Seemed like a decent character. I saw him in this 1988 mocie 'Crash Course" with a bunch of kid stars like Alyssa Milano, Biran Bloom, Tina Yothers and even DB Wong (the psychologist from SVU) and he was cool and the movie was typical 80s hilarity. Most of you guys coming here posting insulting things seriously are low lives. None of you know jack about this actor so leave him be. I liked Mr Belvedere and there was nothing creepy about any of them. I dont even know why the author keeps saying that.

  28. Rob Stone...what great memories of him in all his roles I ever got to see. I have for years tried to find out what he's been up to but apparently didn't look in the right direction until now! WooHoo though! He's alive and well and sounds like things are going ok for him. I recently found the DVD's of Mr. Belvedere and started watching them. Without fail his performance was thoroughly enjoyable, humorous as always when needed, genuine and caring in his presence and just genuinly an enjoyable happy memory to get to relive again. Thank you Rob for allowing this old fool to have such happy memories of a "silly little TV show."

  29. Well after doing some research, I found a few pics of him. I think he has a production company named "viennaprod.com" and he seems to be involved in tennis (he is the president of the LA Tennis Ladder) and I even saw a picture of him. He looks pretty much exactly as he looked 25 years ago - well not exactly, but he doesnt look like someone who is about to turn 50. He is also married to some Asian chick and has a child. Anyway, hardly washed up, creepy or gay. He seems to enjoy what he is doing. Just because people dont make it as mega stars doesnt mean they are washed up.

  30. Rob Stone is a highly regarded documentary producer.....as well as producing episodes of Modern Marvels for the History Channel.
Calling him "washed up" would be like calling Ron Howard washed up. Just because he chose to work behind the camera, does not make him washed up. I'm not sure who designed this site, but, you really need to do more research before you call someone "washed up".

    Rob-
Don't let these hater, or immature know nothings bring you down you brought a lot of happiness to us thirty somethings as well as good quality family entertainment. Something that television has been lacking for a long time. My grandfather was an actor in film ant television,( Who I watched the show with) and he always said there is a fine young actor there. I only wished I had asked for an autograph back then, and If I ever had the chance I would repeat what I just typed out to your face, you are a fine actor.

  36. Rob Stone is doing OK. As mentioned in previous postings, he runs a successful documentary film company in Studio City and is married with two children. Washed up is unfair in this case. As an interesting side note, he and former co-star Brice Beckham became friends on the set and remain in touch.

  37. I have read some horrible things here from some horrible people. It's so sad how people don't have lives of their own. I have watched Mr. Belvedere in it's hayday and thought it was the cutest family type sitcom at the time. Rob is the reason I enjoyed it so. I do like hearing that he is active behind the scenes and hope to see him on the screen again in the future. Afterall, if you don't like him, why ya come looking him up?

  38. What is wrong with some of you people? I cannot believe some of the evil and horribly slanderous trash I am reading on this blog. I to am a fan of Rob Stone. I am just a year older than him and thought he was always sweet, cute and talented when he was on Mr. Belvedere. And since when is someone "washed up" because they choose to do something else other than be on a tv show their whole life? He was never washed up at all and all of us who love him as an actor will cherish the work he has done. I recently bought all 3 series of Mr. Belvedere on Amazon not only because I adored that show (and Christopher!) but because it was wonderful program it was fun again to watch Rob act. I think Rob Stone should sue all of you for even indicating he is some sort of pervert. It is obvious so many of you on here have severe mental problems. It makes me sick people like you could cut him down in the disgusting way that you do, but no one will ever think any less of Rob because of your lies. I think it is also sad some of the other celebrities you so unfairly rip apart on this site to. The owner of this blog needs to seriously grow up, get some help and some class and remember that Rob Stone will always be held dear in our hearts. Unlike scallywads like him..

  40. To help my random yelling of curse words I think of Rob Stone. The trade-off is that I get really depressed instead of yelling.

  41. I like your blog but Rob Stone shouldn't be on here man. If he decided to quit on his own accord and stopped trying to be in the spotlight, he is not "washed up" as per your definition. All the people on here making gay jokes must feel super uncomfortable of themselves because normal guys don't come up with gay fanfic like that. I guess that's the price of fame; getting insecure people hating on you. So yeah, Rob shouldn't worry insecure people writing shit on here.

  44. Watching Mr. Belvedere right now. I never watched it when it was originally on. Looking at the date, I was busy with a house, marriage and working. About Rob Stone, he looks just like my first love in 1978. Same body as seen in the episode of the art class modeling. Curious to see what he might look like today, brought me to this site. I hope he sees this, because he was so very cute in this show.
    Thanks

  45. Rob Stone had a good part on a good show.

  51. Stone is not Rob's real last name. That name was given to him by Mr.Belvedere. Mr.Belvedere and Rob used to lowride in the streets of Hollywood and South Central LA. If I can remember correctly, Mr.B drove a pearl white 61 Impala with a vanity plate that read "OG Butler". Anyway one day in sunny LA, Mr.B and Rob had to make a visit to a convenience store. The owner of the store did not want to pay protection money to Mr.Belvedere. So Mr.B was not in the mood to correct the problem. So he told Rob to handle the problem for him. Rob entered the store and proceeded to slap the crap out of the owner. He slapped him so hard that he put the owner in a coma for 30 years. Upon witnessing this, Mr.Belvedere gave Rob his new last name "Stone". Rob's real last name is "Levy". I have to admit that Stone sounds a lot better and tougher than "Levy".
